Psalm 78

“In Psalm 78, it's a call to remembrance of the faithfulness and power of the Lord throughout the history of Israel. It chronicles the story of God dealing with his people, their continued unfaithfulness, and his prevailing grace.

I was inspired by a piece of old artwork that portrays the entire story of "Pilgrim's Progress" by John Bunyan as a map with a winding trail from beginning to end.

I chose to use old and worn papyrus paper to spotlight the psalm's emphasis on teaching future generations the "dark sayings of old" (v.2) of the past provision and wonders of the Lord. We too have many faithful men of old to thank for passing the Word of God from generation to generation by the means of copying it upon papyrus paper.

In my artwork of Psalm 78, the story starts in the lower left corner where it shows God's covenant with Abraham. That through his offspring, all nations would be blessed. The trail then leads through the history of Israel. Hundreds of years of God's provision.”
