Psalm 86 // Poor and Needy

Psalm 86 // Poor and Needy
Nate Whisler

“This Psalm is a cry for the help that only God can provide, and it shares of His goodness that can reach us in any situation. The author is solely reliant on God, in many ways a child, so I started with a child’s hand. There is no color, except in the hand and where the light of God shines. Everything else is grey because nothing else is real. It might seem scary because it's dark and feels like the viewer is trapped, but if you focus gon God's light—His goodness—everything else fades away. That's why the hand is the only element with any detail, to highlight the realness of a child of God and our relationship to him. The door frame with the sword-wielding enemy is choppy, like a nightmare, but don't focus on that. Focus on the light, a sign of God’s goodness.”
