Psalm 71 // The Sunset Psalm

“Each quadrant represents a perspective in the psalm.
The older man in the top left quadrant represents the psalmist’s perspective.

The reflection of the man in the bottom left quadrant represents both him in his youth and the zeal in his spirit still praising the Lord.

The enemies on the right upper quadrant represent the many attacks we face. Power/authorities, drunkenness/addiction, lust and deception, false accusation and hatred.

The reflection below them in the bottom right quadrant reminds us of the true enemies at work and their influence on the people above. But, being exposed to a life of faith causes them to cower from the light (represented by the man shielding his eyes from the light).

And finally the quadrants are separated by the lines of a horizontal cross, as we are told the arrows of the enemy will not prevail over the shield of faith.”
