PARENT COMMISSIONING
Raising children to know and love Jesus is super important to us here at Providence, and we want to come alongside parents to help you do just that—raise your kids to know and love Jesus. You aren't in this alone!
What is Parent Commissioning?
Parent Commissioning is an opportunity for you, parents, to publicly commit to raise your child to know Jesus, dedicate yourselves to gospel-centered parenting, and for Providence Church to commit to come alongside you as a spiritual family to walk with, pray for, and support you on the journey.
When is Parent Commissioning?
Parent Commissioning happens two times per year—once in September and once in the spring.
What is required to be commissioned?
Because you are committing to Providence to raise your child to know Jesus and because Providence is committing to walk alongside you as a spiritual family, Parent Commissioning is reserved for Providence members. Membership is a formal commitment of you to the church and the church to you for your spiritual flourishing. Parent Commissioning is for families who have committed to Providence and have allowed Providence to commit to them.
We also require participating parents to attend a Parent Commissioning class prior to being commissioned to understand the vision and heart behind Parent Commissioning. If you have already attended a class in the past, because of the most recent leadership change, we are requiring at least one parent to attend the class again.
