The season of Advent is designed to help us feel our longing for Jesus. During this time, historically we look back to the Old Testament and remember God's promises that he will one day send a deliverer. We wait as they waited, for their redeemer. Then, on Christmas Eve, we have gatherings remembering that their redeemer did indeed come—in the form of a baby in a manger. It truly is an incredible time. 

But, Advent is not just about looking back, longing, and then remembering when the Son of God became incarnate. Advent, for us today 2000 years later, is also about looking forward to the Second Advent of Christ. Today, we also eagerly and longingly look forward to Christ's return and reign. 

That is why we created this year's advent guide. We want to remember Christ’s incarnation and long for His second coming. By spending time with Him, our prayer is that we can truly and fully hope in Christ’s return as we again fix our eyes on him.

We pray you join us in reading this guide to shape your time during Advent this season. The guide begins with the first sermon on November 30. There are 4 individual devotionals for you to finish throughout the week that reflect on what was preached, as will as daily prayers and songs to stir your heart to what was taught. For families with younger kids, there is a family worship section.
