A Call To Missions: Jaden and Katelyn Regier

Jaden and Katelyn Regier, 2025

Jesus states in Acts 1:8, “... you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Where’s “the end of the earth,” you might ask? To be honest, I’m not sure. But what I do know is that Jaden and Katelyn Regier have answered a call to take the gospel overseas to Thailand.

If you’ve been around Providence for a while, you may remember the Regiers. These two former Providence Church College Community (PC3) students grew up in the small farming town of Henderson, Nebraska, became friends during high school, and eventually married and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO).

Their time in PC3 was formative for them. Jaden placed his faith in Jesus as his Lord and Savior during his first year of college, and Katelyn grew in her friendships and discipleship relationships. After PC3, they served as the Communion Team leads for Providence’s Sunday gatherings and volunteered with PC3 on Tuesday nights. Jaden admits that at the time, he didn't know much about global missions. Katelyn says that she felt a subtle push towards mission after growing up in a church that valued missions, but she never expected it to be a full-time pursuit. They were focused on serving at Providence and making Omaha home.

Then, everything shifted during their first year of marriage. God deepened Jaden and Katelyn’s relationship with himself. He allowed them to befriend other missionaries. He opened their eyes to the nations’ need for the gospel. At a PC3 missions’ conference, they encountered teaching from Matthew 28:18-20 and Romans 10:14-17 that stirred their hearts, shifted their perspective, and planted within them a strong desire to live out the Great Commission to “…go and make disciples of all nations.”

We both realized that our lives couldn’t be about comfort or staying where we were. God was calling us to go and make sure people around the world could hear the good news of Jesus.

“We both realized that our lives couldn’t be about comfort or staying where we were,” they shared. “God was calling us to go and make sure people around the world could hear the good news of Jesus.”

In obedience, the Regiers dove into a season of preparation. They served in Global Friends, learning what it is like to develop biblical, cross-cultural relationships. They took the Perspective course, where they learned about God’s global heart and his desire to reach all nations with the gospel. They continued their relationships with their missionary mentors so that they could learn what living on mission overseas would practically look like. They also spent time deep in prayer, pursuing a relationship with the Lord and seeking his wisdom and plan for their lives. In time, God led them to Teach Beyond, an organization that sends teachers to international schools worldwide. Through this connection, the Lord opened the door for them to move to Thailand.

Today, Jaden teaches high school social studies, and Katelyn teaches art to students from kindergarten through 12th grade at an international Christian school. Beyond the classroom, they coach boys’ volleyball, study Thai with a tutor, and intentionally disciple students.

“We see our roles as more than teachers,” they said. “It’s an opportunity to live out the gospel before our students and community.”

The path has not been easy. Leaving family, friends, and a flourishing ministry in Omaha for an unknown field felt like a step into the wilderness.

“The first year was hard,” they admitted. “We grieved what we left behind. There were moments we asked, ‘Why did God send us here?’ But in those quiet, hard places, God reminded us of how He prepared us for this. His faithfulness sustained us and confirmed again and again that this was His will.”

Now, nearly three years later, they rejoice in the fruit God has brought. Relationships have deepened, ministry opportunities have expanded, and they’ve seen lives transformed by the gospel. “We know God will continue to go before us in this ministry that is from him, for him, and through him as long as we remain faithful to the one true gospel.”

As the Regiers look ahead, they ask Providence to partner with them in prayer. Pray for strength and wisdom as they disciple students, for open hearts in their community, and for God’s name to be glorified in all they do.

“Missions isn’t about us,” they said. “It’s about God’s faithfulness. ‘A person cannot receive even one thing unless it is given him from heaven’ (John 3:27). We are simply stewards of what He has graciously given.”

The Regiers’ story is an excellent reminder that all of Christ’s followers are commissioned into this work. Whether it’s going or sending, we all have a critical role to fill. And just as Jaden and Katelyn have experienced, God equips and sustains those He calls.
